GR Rebel Track & Field
Up next for both teams is the state qualifying meet. This will take place on Thursday, May 11th, in Belle Plaine and will start at 4PM.
If attending, you will need to purchase your tickets online. Below is the guide to purchase tickets for the meet.
After using the attached link, follow these steps to secure your tickets:
1. Underneath 'select sport below', choose track & field.
2. In the search area where it says, 'enter event name', you can type in Belle Plaine.
3. Enter the number of tickets you need and select checkout.
*Tickets are $6 for the state qualifying meet.

The boys' postseason pairings are out for class 1A. GCGR will be in substate 2. We will have a bye in the first round and will play the winner of Postville v Garner-Hayfield/Ventura.
Second round will be played on May 22nd.

Congrats to Austin Vaverka winning the 100 and the distance medley of Austin Vaverka, Will Kiburis, Hudson Clark, and Caleb Egasdal winning the meet at Parkersburg last night. There were also multiple P.R.'s ran by the boys. Our district meet is Thursday at Belle Plaine @ 4 pm.

The IGHSAU has released its class 1A postseason pairings for girls soccer.
The GCGR girls' team will travel to Dike-New Hartford on Wednesday, May 17th.
Start time for the match will be 7PM. Information regarding ticket purchasing will be shared in the coming days.

REINBECK, IA - The Gladbrook-Reinbeck Community School District School Board has named Caleb Bonjour as the district’s next superintendent.
Currently, Bonjour serves as superintendent of the Midland CSD, where he has led the development of a five-year district strategic plan focused on facilities and branding, climate and school environment, communication, and teaching and learning. He also helped the Midland community pass a bond this spring to support the renovation of their elementary building.
Bonjour is anticipating a doctorate of education degree from Drake University in the spring of 2024. Previously, he served as PK-2 principal, Title IX coordinator, and statewide voluntary preschool program director in the Maquoketa CSD.
"I am extremely honored to be chosen for the opportunity to lead the Gladbrook-Reinbeck Community School District,” said Bonjour. “Rebel Nation is the kind of place that my wife and I want to raise our family in, and I look forward to helping continue the district’s trend of excellence in academics and activities. Go Rebels!”
Board members worked with Grundmeyer Leader Services to conduct the search. Bonjour interviewed with stakeholder interview groups consisting of students, parents, teachers, and community members on May 4.
Bonjour will officially begin leading the Gladbrook-Reinbeck Community School District on July 1, 2023.

This weekend 9 of the JH girls track athletes travelled to Waukee to compete in the JH state meet. The girls competed in long jump, shot put, 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 800 meter run, 100 meter hurdles, 200 meter hurdles, 4x100, and Distance Medley. A special congratulations to Kailey Larsen for placing 2nd and earning a medal in the 100 meter hurdles! The girls competed well against schools from all across the state.
