Congrats to Leila Thesing on being selected to the 2026 Shrine Bowl All-Star Cheer Squad. This is Leila's 2nd year being selected to cheer at the Iowa Shrine Bowl. Leila and Jayla Hemann will represent GR Nation proudly and cheer on classmate Hudson Clark. The game will be played on July 19th at the UNI Dome.

Thanks to Zachary, Community Prevention Educator, with Pathways for teaching our health students 6 lessons on nicotine and vaping. Today was the first of the lessons. We are lucky to have this timely resource!

Tomorrow night is the night for our RED OUT!! We are having a Red Out for the American Heart Association as we host Grundy Center. We are expecting a big crowd on hand and are asking spectators in attendance to wear as much red as possible!

Aside from GReat basketball on the court, we also want to bring awareness to heart health. Players, cheerleaders, and coaches will be wearing red t-shirts during their games.

We will have a relay race at halftime of the varsity girls game. There will be a drawing at halftime of the varsity boys game to win a signed basketball from the UNI men's team and another from the UNI women's team!

We will have a table set up outside the gym where a director from the American Heart Association will have items on display and can learn about the heart and how to save lives.

It is going to be a jam-packed night but we're looking forward to all of it and seeing a gym filled with red!

Another successful night of UNI Volleyball Camp at GR! 🏐 Our second session was filled with smiles, positivity, and lots of learning. It’s so fun to see the athletes grow and gain new tips they can use on their court. Huge thanks to the UNI volleyball players for making this such a special experience! 💜

Tickets to put your name in a drawing for a chance to win either or both will cost $5 each and you can purchase as many tickets as you'd like! With 17 points tonight Kennedy Brant has officially became the all-time scoring leader here at G-R. This is a huge achievement and we are so excited for Kennedy!

Rebel Nation, Next Tuesday, January 27th, will be a Red Out night for the American Heart Association as Grundy Center travels to Gladbrook-Reinbeck for HS G/B basketball! We're asking that the student section theme is red and that as many people in the stands wear red as well to help bring awareness for heart health. There will be a director from the American Heart Association selling shirts in the hallway outside the gym. Each shirt will cost $10. Two basketballs from UNI (one signed by the men's team and one signed by the women's team) that people can purchase tickets for and have an opportunity to win. Each ticket will be $5 and the drawing will take place at half time of the varsity boys game. All money from shirts and the UNI basketball tickets will go directly to the American Heart Association. There will also be a relay race between Grundy Center and Gladbrook-Reinbeck students during half time of the varsity girls game. Using the QR code attached to the graphic, people can donate to the AHA or can text using the number included on the graphic. The players, coaches, and cheerleaders will all be wearing a red AHA shirt as their warm up shirts for their games. Varsity starters will also be throwing out signed red basketballs to the crowd! Tomorrow's JV/V G/B basketball games vs Oelwein have been postponed. The rescheduled date will be Monday Feb 9th.
