G-R JH Softball Today at Grundy Center. The final score didn't reflect the tremendous improvement our team showed today as even the strong hitting of the Rebels as we finished with 7 hits in 5 innings. Coach Thede comments that the girls continue to grow, compete, and put together quality innings on both offense and defense. Offensively, we strung together several good at-bats and collected some nice hits from Justin Mathern, Kylie Presar, and Julia Muller. Julia had a big day at the plate, driving in two runs for the team. Overall, our bats looked much improved, and the girls did a great job putting the ball in play.
Defensively, Kinlee Eckhoff and Julia teamed up for a nice out after forcing a runner into a pickle. Justin was strong in the circle, recording two strikeouts and making a heads-up play by picking off a runner at third with Laney Mendenhall. Haylee Husmann also put together a solid inning behind the plate, doing a great job catching and supporting her pitcher. While the scoreboard wasn't in our favor, the effort, improvement, and teamwork were evident throughout the game. We are proud of the progress these girls continue to make and are excited to see them keep building on it!
