Gladbrook-Reinbeck Community School District

XC attempted to beat the heat with some communication/mental strength competitions today in practice.

Good morning Rebel Nation,

We have an update regarding varsity football this Friday September 4th at Meskwaki Settlement. Due to low numbers and injury concerns from our opponent, that game has been canceled. This game will not be made up.

We have attempted to contact a handful of schools that also have an opening this Friday to get another game added, but unfortunately those attempts were unsuccessful.

So, we will not have a varsity game this Friday and will not be adding a game to replace it. Our game will go down as a victory for the Rebels by way of a forfeit. The varsity will take the field again on Thursday September 10th at home against Colo-Nesco.

Thank you and go Rebels!

‼️ JH Volleyball ‼️

Update‼️ The JV football stream should be good to go now! Go Rebels!

Rebel Nation, We apologize for technical issues during our JV football game. We are trying to work through them and will do our best to get them corrected. Thank you and go Rebels!

GR Families,

With the continued extreme heat and humidity, we have been closely monitoring conditions inside both of our school buildings.

Today, several elementary classrooms reached temperatures in the low-to-mid 80s with humidity levels ranging from the mid-70s to more than 80%. These conditions continued to increase throughout the day, and the forecast calls for similar or warmer conditions again tomorrow.

Because our buildings have limited cooling in a number of instructional spaces, GR Schools will dismiss at 1:20 PM tomorrow, Tuesday, September 1st and Wednesday, September 2nd.

Our decision is based not only on the outdoor temperature, but also on actual indoor temperature and humidity readings, ventilation, and how conditions are trending throughout the school day.

We know schedule changes create challenges for families, and we do not make these decisions lightly. Our priority is maintaining a safe and productive environment for students and staff.

We will continue monitoring building conditions and the forecast throughout the week and will communicate any additional schedule changes as early as possible.

Thank you for your flexibility and understanding.

Superintendent

Ran @ Marshalltown 2nite. Every high school runner improved their time from last year and we had three freshman run their first career 5K. That means every athlete ran a PR, this may be the first time I've coached a team that accomplished this. GR8 race by GRXC!!

I wanted to share a quick reminder and update regarding our elementary schedule.

Input Conferences scheduled for today have been canceled. We will share more information soon about how we will make up those opportunities.

In place of our originally scheduled conferences, we have scheduled an Elementary Open House for tomorrow, Friday, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. This will give students and families a chance to see classrooms, meet teachers, bring in supplies, and get comfortable in the building before our first day of school.

The additional time this week has been incredibly valuable, and our staff, contractors, crews, and volunteers continue working hard to get everything ready.

Thank you for your patience and flexibility. We are excited to welcome everyone into the building tomorrow night!

📢 Attention JH volleyball players! 📢

Secondary Open House Reminder

We want to remind you that our Secondary Open House will take place this Thursday from 5:00–6:30 p.m. as scheduled.

While there have been some delays in the completion of the elementary project, these delays will not affect the Secondary Open House schedule. We look forward to welcoming students and families into the building, meeting teachers, and preparing for a great school year.

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing you Thursday evening!
