It is scrimmage week for volleyball and football!
Volleyball will have their team scrimmage this Wednesday at GR high school beginning at 6 PM.
- Please bring a case of water or sports drinks for student-athletes to use this year
- If you're able to bring an item, we will have you bring it into the gym on the visitor side by the bleachers
Football will have their JV/V scrimmage in Elkader this Friday beginning at 7 PM.

Rebel Nation, after the first week of HS fb practice & the conclusion of all of our K-12th grade camps we wanted to share some of the exciting #s with the G-R Football program. We have 80 kids playing in our TK-4 Flag FB league with over 30 coaches. A special thanks to the Lions Club, Re/Max Concepts for sponsorship along with all the time and effort Sean Babinat has put into coordinating this league. Come watch our kids play on a Thursday night at 7:00 in Reinbeck, or see them showcase their talents at the halftime of our first home Varsity FB game on Thursday, Sept 10 in Gladbrook. If those don't work stop up at the practice fields in Reinbeck on our final game of the season "Under the Light" at the Bowl game on Friday, Sept 11 starting at 7:30/8:00 as a more specific schedule will be sent out at a later date! #rebelnation
🏗️ Elementary Construction Update
The transformation of our elementary school continues, and every day brings noticeable progress!
Our crews have been hard at work making significant strides throughout the building. Flooring installation is underway, interactive displays have all been installed, EverAlert safety devices are being completed, countertops and unit ventilators are being installed, hallway painting has begun, and work continues on the new front vestibule. In addition, contractors are working through hundreds of punch list items as we approach the finish line.
We remain on schedule for our August 18 substantial completion milestone, followed by final inspections and occupancy approval before teachers begin moving into their classrooms.
Furniture has also started arriving on site, and we currently anticipate approximately 90% of classroom furniture being delivered prior to the start of school. Our Building & Grounds team and furniture installation crews are working together to ensure classrooms are ready to welcome students.
While a few remaining items, such as some cabinetry, will continue into September, those projects have been planned to minimize any disruption to teaching and learning once school begins.
One of the most exciting parts of this project is watching the building change every single day. With just a couple of weeks remaining before students return, we continue to see tremendous progress and are incredibly excited to welcome our students, staff, and families into these beautiful new learning spaces.

Last week wrapped up our USDA Summer Food Program at G-R! 🍎🥪
Over the course of 10 weeks, our dedicated team served over 18,000 breakfasts and 18,000 lunches to children across our communities and beyond.
A huge thank you to our hardworking food service staff, volunteers, and everyone who helped make this summer program such a success for our families! #RebelNation

🏗️ Elementary Construction Update
As we continue the countdown to welcoming students back for the new school year, I wanted to share a quick update on the incredible progress taking place at our elementary school.
The good news is that the project remains on schedule, although there is no question that we're in one of the busiest stretches of construction. Every day brings noticeable progress, and it has been exciting to watch the building transform.
Over the past several days, crews have been painting classrooms, installing ceilings, hanging interactive displays, installing cabinetry, setting unit ventilators, completing bathroom renovations, and tackling countless finishing details throughout the building. While many of these tasks may seem small on their own, together they represent tremendous progress toward creating an outstanding learning environment for our students.
Outside, we're also celebrating a major milestone with the installation of our brand-new playground! Next week, the pour-in-place safety surface will be installed, bringing us one step closer to opening an incredible new space for our students to learn, play, and grow.
A huge thank you goes out to our Gladbrook-Reinbeck PTO. Their vision, leadership, fundraising efforts, volunteer hours, and commitment made this playground possible. This is an incredible investment in our students and another example of what can happen when a community comes together to support its schools.
Our current target for substantial completion remains August 18. While that doesn't mean every last detail will be finished, it does mark an important milestone as we begin preparing classrooms and completing the final finishing touches before students arrive. Like any major construction project, there will continue to be punch list items and minor adjustments, but our team and construction partners are committed to ensuring students and staff have a safe, welcoming, and inspiring place to begin the school year.
Projects like this don't happen without an incredible team. Thank you to our construction crews, architects, engineers, project managers, district staff, Board of Education, PTO, and community for your patience, encouragement, and support throughout this journey.
We are incredibly close, and I can't wait to welcome our students into a learning environment that will serve them, and future generations of Gladbrook-Reinbeck students, for many years to come.

Wednesday August 12th will be HS picture day for the fall HS athletic programs. Picture forms will be given to coaches early next week for them to give to their athletes ahead of August 12th.
Seniors have been emailed and notified about the senior banner pictures that will take place on August 12th as well. Typically they are taken in the hallway outside of the HS gym.
Seniors will receive multiple reminders between now and next Wednesday about their banner pictures. A GR sweatshirt will be provided for them to wear in their picture. If they can't make it, they need to let Mr. Grooms know and an alternate date will be set for them to make that picture up.
HS athletic practices officially begin next Monday August 10th! We're off and running and close to another year beginning!

This Thursday August 6th, we will have our fall athletic fundraiser where we sell Rebel Cards. August 6th will be the kickoff date and the date to turn cards back in will be Monday August 17th. We will be working with Leading Edge Fundraising.
The meeting/kickoff on August 6th will begin at 7:45 PM and take place in the open grass area just north of the bus barn by the JH/HS building. At this meeting, student-athletes will receive information on how to get logged into the fundraising system, what they can earn for selling certain amounts of Rebel cards, and what their goal is.
Coaches and athletes will be there to receive the information from the Leading Edge representative.
This fall fundraiser is for the following athletic programs:
JH/HS football
JH/HS volleyball
JH/HS cross country
HS cheer
Youth football
We look forward to getting the fall seasons underway and making our way towards the beginning of the school year! If your child will be participating in the programs mentioned above, please make sure they are able to attend the kickoff meeting.

Kinzee received Reserve Champion Purebred Breeding Gilt, 2nd in class for her commercial gilt, 2nd in class for her crossbred market barrow, and her purebred Hampshire market hog received a purple ribbon. Kinzee was also a mentor for the Bacon Buddies show.
Lane received reserve champion yearling doe and his junior doe got a blue.
Prycely's market heifer received Reserve Champion Grundy County Born Market Beef and 2nd in class at the No Fit Beef Show. She was also awarded Reserve Champion No Fit Senior Showman. Her market heifer received 2nd in class and another market heifer received a blue ribbon in the beef show. Prycely and her horse Moonshine were Champion Senior Barrels, Champion Senior Speed, and Champion Senior Keyhole.

The wait is finally over… playground installation begins TODAY! 🎉 We are so excited to see our new inclusive playground start to come together and can’t wait to welcome students back to enjoy it this school year.
As exciting as it will be to watch it take shape, we have one very important request: PLEASE stay out of the construction area and OFF the playground equipment until we announce that it is officially open.
While the equipment will quickly start looking complete and inviting, it is NOT safe to use yet. Crews will be working throughout this week, with the pour-in-place surfacing being installed over the next week or two. The playground is still an active construction zone.
At this time, fencing cannot be installed until the concrete for the playground footings has been poured, so we’re asking for your help in keeping everyone safe by staying away from the area until the project is fully completed and inspected.
We know it’s hard to wait, but we’re in the home stretch! Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support as we finish this incredible project. We promise the wait will be worth it, and we’ll let everyone know as soon as it’s safe to play! 💙
