The Class of 2026 Seniors were able to go and enjoy a weekend away with each other in Wisconsin Dells. 28 members of the class joined in on the fun this weekend. They were able to enjoy Kalahari water park, Escape Rooms, Tom Foolery's, good food, and time with classmates. Thank you chaperones for giving your weekend and helping the Seniors out!!

For science, and to go with the letter K, the TK class made kites. We took them outside and they worked! It was fun watching the kids figure out that their kites worked best if they ran into the wind or stood with the wind at their backs.

Thursday night, the girls and boys golf teams kicked off their season with a trip to Hickory Grove Golf Course in Oelwein for a triangular against Oelwein and DNH. The boys took first place with a team score of 166, compared to Oelwein’s 172 and DNH's 178. Anthony Knaack led the team with a low score of 40, good for third overall. Chad Gutknecht and Laken Thesing rounded out GR’s top three with scores of 41. The girls also teed it up tonight against two excellent teams in DNH and Oelwein. Four of these girls competed in their first meet, and the coaches witnessed some very good shots from each golfer. They are excited to see how this group progresses throughout the season. Avery Boyer was the team’s individual low scorer with a 51, good for a tie for fifth overall. Reese Schneider followed with a 52, placing seventh overall in her first meet! #rebelnation

In TK we are working on the letter Kk and on subtraction. Today we practiced both skills while working on our kite subtraction papers.

Junior High Track Meet in Dike today has been canceled due to the incoming weather. Unfortunately, it will not be rescheduled. #rebelnation

Prycely Beard and Kinzee Hemann were named Borlaug Scholars yesterday at the Iowa Youth Institute!

They each had to write a paper about food insecurity in a foreign country, identify the cause of food insecurity, and develop a solution to fix the issue. They presented their findings at the Iowa Youth Institute to fellow participants and industry experts.

Norman Borlaug is known as the father of the green revolution and is a Nobel Peace Prize winner for his development of disease resistant, high yield varieties of wheat. This Iowa native, helped improve food security and food supply around the world. He also established the World Food Prize. The Borlaug Scholar Award was created in honor of Norman Borlaug to recognize students for thinking critically about the food supply and addressing global food security.

With this honor, Kinzee and Prycely earned a $1000 scholarship to Iowa State University.
