Gladbrook Reinbeck Cheer is excited to announce we have two Cheerleaders who have been selected to cheer at the 2025 Iowa Shrine Bowl. They get the country to not only cheer for Michael Boyd, who was selected as a player to represent the Rebels, but also to help all those who are a part of this game.
Jayla Hemann and Leila Thesing, both juniors, are honored and excited to have been selected to cheer for this incredible event.
This isn’t just a football game — it’s an incredible event that brings athletes and cheerleaders from all over Iowa together to raise money for Shriners Children’s, a hospital network that provides free, life-changing care to kids who need it most.

This afternoon was the annual Hardy Reading/Writing Council Celebration in Eldora. This council is made up of teachers from Hardin and Grundy counties. The teachers meet monthly to discuss strategies to help our students become better readers and writers. Several teachers from GR are part of this group.
Each year, teachers submit creative writing stories and poetry to a contest. This year, two third-grade students from GR were chosen as the first-place third-grade winners!
Izzy was awarded first place for poetry, and Bodhi was awarded first place for a creative writing story.
Great job! GR is proud of you! Keep up the great writing!

Budget Public Hearing Update
Rebels,
We want to keep our community informed regarding an issue that came up during our FY2026 budget approval process.
Due to a publication error in the newspaper, the date listed for our second required budget hearing did not match the actual hearing date, even though the district submitted the correct information. After consulting with legal counsel and the Iowa Department of Management, we are taking the following corrective actions:
We will hold a Special Board Meeting on April 28 at 7:00 AM to set two public hearings: one for the FY2026 Budget and one for a FY2025 Budget Amendment.
The Public Hearings will be held on May 12 at 7:00 AM at the GR Junior High/High School Library.
Public notices will be republished, and full details will be posted on our website and social media.
Public comments are welcome in person or can be submitted by emailing Superintendent Caleb Bonjour at caleb.bonjour@gr-rebels.net.
The Iowa Department of Management has confirmed that once this process is complete, the district's budget will be certified without penalty. A note about the delay will appear in the FY2025 audit.
