Due to the ongoing heat conditions that are forecasted, we are planning for a 2-hour early dismissal on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. However, we will also closely assess building conditions early in the morning to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Should the conditions inside the buildings prove to be unsafe, we will consider a full cancellation of school. Due to the high temperatures and heat index both in and out of classrooms on Monday, August 26th, Gladbrook-Reinbeck CSD will be dismissing school 2 hours early. This decision has been made to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff, as we work to avoid extended exposure to the heat.

The week ahead for Rebel Nation

It is back to school time! It is also time for the GR FFA kids to start having their monthly chapter meetings. Friends of the GR FFA is a booster club for the student chapter. We help to support the program in many ways. One way is by providing breakfast at their monthly meetings. Meetings are held on the second Monday of every month. We are looking for businesses, organizations, or families that would like to support one of the monthly meetings. Hey Rebel Nation! We have our GR football scrimmage tomorrow night in Gladbrook. It will start at 7PM. Just a reminder that if you are able, please bring a case of water or sports drinks that can be collected and used for all of our student athletes throughout the entire school year. Also, the field recently had work done on both side lines. You will notice tomorrow night during the scrimmage that our players will not be standing on our side line. Rather, they will be down in the end zone. This will allow extra time for the grass on the side line to continue to grow and be ready to go for the regular season. Thank you and go Rebels!

GR Fall Apparel If you ordered any GR football or volleyball apparel, it will be at the high school tonight and you can pick it up if you are there for open house! Volleyball apparel will be given to the players for them to bring home.

The cross country team ended our workout with a pool cool down today. We are one week away from our first HS meet of the season at Marshalltown!

Last night we had the privilege of having Christopher Mollicone join us for a stunt clinic. He has SEVERAL years of cheerleading experience and is currently the coach at Hudson High School and TNT Cheer in Cedar Falls. Chris helped us with our stunting fundamentals and techniques. But, we wanted to honor the following for their athletic and academic achievements during the past school year: Congratulations to Mallory Wrage on earning NICL West 2nd team at 1st base. Mallory played with Union Community during the 2024 softball season. Mallory is a tremendous representation of Rebel Nation and we want to congratulate her for her success and determination! Congratulations to the 2024 GCGR girls soccer team for achieving academic excellence. The team earned a Distinguished in Academic Achievement certificate from the IGHSAU for achieving a team GPA between 3.25 and 4.0. We're very proud of this team for taking care of business in the classroom as well as on the field! Keep up the GReat work!

Rebel Nation, As Friday's home football scrimmage approaches, we kindly ask that you bring water or sports drinks if you do plan on attending the scrimmage. It will start at 7PM in Gladbrook. There will be cheerleaders at the top of the steps at the main entrance that will be able to take any water/sports drinks that you bring. These drinks will help serve our student-athletes across all activities throughout the entire school year. Thank you and go Rebels!

Rebel Nation, As we gear up for another exciting year of Rebel activities, we want to share some important updates regarding ticket prices and other enhancements for the upcoming 2024-25 season. The North Iowa Cedar League (NICL) has announced an increase in ticket prices for high school athletic events. Beginning this season, ticket prices will be $7 for adults and $7 for K-12 students across the conference. For our district's football games, however, we will be offering a slightly reduced price of $6 for K-12 students while maintaining the $7 price for adults. This price adjustment helps us manage the rising costs associated with hosting these events, including equipment, facility maintenance, and officiating. We remain committed to providing the best possible experiences for our students and fans while ensuring our facilities and programs continue to thrive. In addition to this, we’re excited to announce that we will now be accepting credit card payments at the gate and concessions for added convenience. Cash will continue to be accepted too. For our loyal supporters, we also offer Activity Passes, which provide entry to all home events for the entire year. The prices are as follows: $25 for seniors 65 and older $85 for adults $65 for students Junior high athletic events will remain at the current $3 admission fee, as we want to continue encouraging attendance for our younger students' events where support is greatly appreciated! We greatly appreciate the continued support of our Rebel community and look forward to another year of great competition, camaraderie, and school spirit. Football season is here! K-4 Camp, 5-8 Camp and HS FB camps will be complete after tomorrow with over 100 athletes playing football. TK/K-4th grade Flag football completed their first game Thursday with 75 athletes, 27 coaches, 10 Officials and hundreds of fans. #rebelnation
